For pest control in Etobicoke, our exterminators come out same-day, weekends included, anywhere from Long Branch to Rexdale, with a free inspection and a two-month guarantee with one free re-treatment. Two Etobicoke jobs have their own pages: cockroach control in Etobicoke and mice and rat control in Etobicoke. Etobicoke runs from the Tudor homes of The Kingsway down to the wartime cottages on the Long Branch lakeshore and up to the apartment towers of Rexdale and Kipling, and every one of those pockets calls about a different pest. A German cockroach problem in a Kipling high-rise is a completely different job from carpenter ants in a treed Kingsway home or fall mice in a New Toronto bungalow. We treat Etobicoke by what the housing and the ravines actually are, not with one script.

Etobicoke housing, and the pests each type brings

Etobicoke is the west end of the City of Toronto, and its pest map follows its housing map. The Kingsway and Markland Wood are affluent, heavily treed, and full of older wood-framed homes, which is carpenter ant and wasp country. The lakeshore villages of Mimico, New Toronto, and Long Branch are older Victorian and wartime stock close to the water, so they get mice through gaps in aging foundations and rats working the lakeshore sewers. Rexdale and the Kipling corridor are apartment-tower clusters where German cockroaches and bed bugs spread unit to unit through shared walls and risers. Humber Bay Shores is the new waterfront condo cluster, and dense new towers get roaches too, riding in on deliveries and moving between stacked units. The postwar bungalows in Eatonville, Alderwood, and Thistletown are classic fall-mouse homes.

Then there are the rivers. The Humber, Mimico Creek, and Etobicoke Creek all cut through Etobicoke, and their ravines are rat highways. If your property backs a ravine or sits near the lower Humber, you are on a rat corridor whether you have seen one yet or not.

Common pests in Etobicoke, by type

Cockroach control in Etobicoke

Cockroach control in Etobicoke is mostly German cockroach work in the Rexdale and Kipling apartment towers and the Humber Bay Shores condos, done with gel bait and monitoring over two to three visits and typically $200 to $600. In a multi-unit building a roach problem is a building problem, not a unit problem: they travel the plumbing and electrical chases between units, so treating one apartment while the neighbours stay untreated just moves them next door and back. We treat with gel bait and monitoring and tell you honestly when the building, not the tenant, needs to coordinate. See our cockroach control page.

Mice control in Etobicoke

Mice control in Etobicoke means trapping plus sealing, typically $200 to $500, and it is the fall call in the postwar bungalows and the older lakeshore homes. A house mouse gets in through a gap the width of a pencil, and older Mimico and Long Branch foundations, worn garage sweeps, and brick weep holes give them plenty. Sealing the entry points is what actually ends it. See mouse control.

Rat control in Etobicoke

Rat control in Etobicoke starts outside, at the burrows, because rats here come up from the Humber and Mimico Creek ravines and through the older lakeshore sewers. Most jobs run $300 to $600 or more. Rats need a bigger gap than mice and dig burrows, so ravine-backing lots and yards near the creeks are the high-risk addresses. Read the rat control page for the plan, which is different from the mouse plan.

Carpenter ants in Etobicoke

Carpenter ants are the Kingsway and Markland Wood problem. Big black ants in a treed neighbourhood usually mean a satellite nest in damp or soft wood: a leaking sill, an old deck, a section of fascia. Killing the trail you see does nothing if the nest survives. Our carpenter ant control page covers finding the actual nest.

Wasps in Etobicoke

Wasps are the summer call across Etobicoke, and the treed yards of the Kingsway and Markland Wood get the worst of it, with nests in soffits, eaves, and mature trees. See wasp nest removal.

In Etobicoke your address decides your pest: towers and condos mean roaches, older lakeshore and postwar homes mean fall mice, and anything near the Humber or the creeks means rats.

Neighbourhoods we cover

We work all of Etobicoke: The Kingsway, Mimico, New Toronto, Long Branch, Islington-City Centre and the Six Points area at Islington and Bloor, Rexdale, the Kipling corridor, Markland Wood, Eatonville, Alderwood, Thistletown, and the Humber Bay Shores condos along the lake. If you are near the Humber, Mimico Creek, or Etobicoke Creek, tell us when you call, because a property on a ravine or creek line changes how we handle rats.

Who is responsible: Toronto bylaw, the Rat Plan, RentSafeTO, and the RTA

Etobicoke is part of the City of Toronto, so Toronto's rules apply here in full. Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 629, the property-standards and rodent bylaw, requires every property to be kept free of rodents and pests, and owners can be ordered to act. You can read the City's own explanation on the Toronto rodent and property-standards page.

Rats in Etobicoke are also covered by the City's 2026 Rat Response Plan, a coordinated program that pushes proactive rodent management, construction-site rules, and neighbourhood response. The ravines along the Humber and the creeks are exactly the kind of corridor that plan targets.

If you rent in a Rexdale, Kipling, or lakeshore apartment building, RentSafeTO sets the standards your landlord has to meet, and pest control in a multi-unit building is the landlord's job to coordinate across affected units. Provincially, the Residential Tenancies Act makes the landlord responsible for keeping the unit in a good state of repair and fit for habitation, which the Landlord and Tenant Board has repeatedly read to include pest treatment. If you are a tenant, you do not have to pay for a cockroach or bed bug treatment your landlord should be handling. We are happy to inspect and give you a written report to bring to your landlord or Toronto Public Health.

What an exterminator costs in Etobicoke

An exterminator in Etobicoke costs the same as anywhere in Toronto: most single treatments run $150 to $450, mice $200 to $500, cockroaches $200 to $600, and rats $300 to $600 or more. Etobicoke pricing tracks the housing. A single-unit condo cockroach treatment or a one-entry mouse job sits at the lower end. A treed Kingsway home with a carpenter ant nest to locate, or an older lakeshore house with rats and multiple entry points to seal, runs higher because the work is real. We quote after we see the property, and there is no upsell. The full breakdown for every pest is on the Toronto pest control cost page.

Waiting is the expensive choice here. A few fall mice in a Long Branch bungalow in October is a small job; an established colony in the walls and attic by February is not. The same is true of roaches in a tower and rats near the creeks: both spread.

How we work

  1. Free inspection. We find the pest, the source, the runs, and the entry points, inside and out. For rats near the Humber or the creeks that means checking the yard for burrows; for roaches in a tower it means checking the shared walls and risers.
  2. Targeted treatment. Gel bait and monitoring for cockroaches, trapping plus tamper-resistant stations for rodents, nest treatment for carpenter ants and wasps. We use Health Canada PMRA-registered products and follow the label, which includes keeping rodenticide in locked stations away from pets and children.
  3. Exclusion, the part that lasts. For rodents we seal the entry points with steel wool, hardware cloth, and sealant a rodent cannot chew. Treatment without sealing is a subscription, not a fix.
  4. Follow-up and guarantee. We come back to confirm the activity has stopped. If the pest is still active within two months, we return once at no charge.

In a Rexdale, Kipling, or lakeshore apartment building, one unit cannot solve a cockroach or bed bug problem alone. Roaches and bed bugs move between units through shared walls, plumbing, and outlets, so the building has to coordinate treatment across the affected units. If your landlord is not acting, RentSafeTO and Toronto Public Health are your route, and we will give you the written report to make the case.

Common questions

Do you cover all of Etobicoke?

Yes, all of it: The Kingsway, Mimico, New Toronto, Long Branch, Islington-City Centre and Six Points, Rexdale, Kipling, Markland Wood, Eatonville, Alderwood, Thistletown, and the Humber Bay Shores condos. Tell us if you are near the Humber, Mimico Creek, or Etobicoke Creek, because that changes the rat plan.

Why does my Kipling or Rexdale apartment keep getting cockroaches after treatment?

Because in a multi-unit building roaches travel between units through the walls and plumbing. If only your unit is treated, they come back from the neighbours. Under RentSafeTO and the RTA it is the landlord's job to coordinate treatment across the affected units, not yours to pay for repeatedly.

I back onto the Humber ravine and think I have rats. What now?

Ravine-backing lots are rat corridors, and the City's Rat Response Plan flags exactly these areas. We inspect the yard for burrows, set tamper-resistant stations, and seal entry points into the house. Rats need a bigger gap than mice, so the sealing targets different spots.

When do mice come into Etobicoke homes?

Fall, roughly September through December, as the nights turn cold. The postwar bungalows in Eatonville and Alderwood and the older lakeshore homes in Mimico and Long Branch are the classic calls, because aging foundations and worn seals give mice easy entry.

Are the products safe around my kids and pets?

We use Health Canada PMRA-registered products and follow the label. Any rodenticide near a home goes in tamper-resistant stations, not open dishes, and we tell you about any area to stay off and for how long. Much of a rodent job is trapping and sealing, which uses no poison at all.

Do I have to pay if I rent and my landlord will not act?

No. In Ontario the Residential Tenancies Act makes the landlord responsible for a habitable unit, which the Landlord and Tenant Board treats as including pest control. We can inspect and give you a written report for your landlord, RentSafeTO, or Toronto Public Health.

How much does an exterminator cost in Etobicoke?

Most single treatments run $150 to $450. Mouse jobs with sealing run $200 to $500, cockroaches $200 to $600 over two to three visits, and rats $300 to $600 or more. The firm price comes after the free inspection, before any work starts.

Can an exterminator come the same day in Etobicoke?

Yes. Same-day visits are available across Etobicoke, weekends included. The first visit is a free inspection that confirms the pest and gives you a firm price before any treatment.
